Playa Blanca

Lanzarote is the most  easterly of the Canary Islands, situated just 79 miles west of North Africa in the Atlantic Ocean, and about 4 hours flying time from the UK.

Playa Blanca enjoys a mild dry climate with average daytime temperatures ranging from about 20˚C in January to 29˚C in August. Average annual rainfall is just 100mm making it the perfect year-round destination.

The island has a unique volcanic landscape and has escaped the high-rise development seen in other islands due to the influence of the architect and environmentalist Cesar Manrique.

Playa Blanca is the most southerly (and sunniest) resort on the island of Lanzarote.

It has some of the most beautiful sandy beaches in the Canaries stretching from Playa Flamingo and Playa Dorada round to the private coves at Papagayo. It is a perfect resort for families and couples alike.

There is a promenade which starts to the west, near the lighthouse close to Faro Park. It runs along the seafront to the Marina Rubicon with its many restaurants and shops, and onward towards the Papagayo beaches to the east. This is a lovely leisurely walk or cycle ride.

Playa Blanca is ideally situated for sightseeing around the stunning volcanic island. The road network is excellent and within 30 minutes drive are, for example, Timanfaya National Park, El Golfo with its Green Lagoon and great seafront restaurants, and Puerto Calero – a very modern stylish resort with marina, boutiques and restaurants.

Catamaran and submarine excursions are available from Puerto Calero and if you wish to travel further afield, there are regular ferries to the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura from the harbour at Playa Blanca.
